The Need

Student-to-Adviser Ratio

Nationally, the student-to-adviser ratio is over 450:1, leaving many students with just 20 minutes a year with a college adviser. High-need students often lack the guidance and support they need to prepare for college, apply to best-fit schools and for financial aid, enroll and persist in their studies, and graduate.

Underserved High Schools

Students in underserved high schools are less likely to have family or friends that have navigated the challenging path to college and can be called upon for advice. The role of the college adviser is crucial in creating a college-going culture and increasing college-going rates in these high schools.
